The Rowenta Ultra Steam steam brush provides an alternative to ironing. It is useful for delicate fabrics, such as silk and synthetics, which can be discolored or burned by ironing. The unit adjusts to high or low steam settings to accommodate a range of fabric types and thicknesses. You can generate quick bursts of steam by briefly pressing and releasing the steam button. Generate a continuous flow of steam by pressing and holding the button. Remove hair and lint with a detachable lint pad.
Remove the lint pad from the unit by moving it down along the handle until it slides off at the bottom. If it is left on while the unit is steaming, the color in the pad can run and cause staining.
Check the voltage setting and change it if necessary. The unit is designed for dual voltage and will work with either 120- or 230-volt current. A plug adapter may be required outside the United States, but a converter is not necessary.
Remove the water tank by pulling it off the lower end of the handle. Take out the rubber stopper and fill the tank with tap water. Replace the rubber stopper. Push the tank back onto the handle until it clicks into place. Attach the brush to the steam head, if desired, by pressing it onto the steam head until it snaps into place.
Plug in the unit and turn it on. The indicator light will come on. Select the dial setting for the level of steam you prefer. The indicator light will go out in about 30 seconds after the unit reaches operating temperature.
Activate the steamer by pressing the steam button with the head of the unit facing toward the item you are steaming and not toward yourself. If you need to set the unit down while it is turned on, lay it on its side on a hard surface that is heat-resistant. Do not rest the unit on its head.
Pull down on a section of your hanging garment with one hand to tauten the fabric. Move the unit slowly down the garment with your other hand while pressing the steam button to activate the flow of steam. Leave the garment hanging for a short time after steaming so it will cool.
Turn the unit off and unplug it when you are finished. Remove the water tank and empty any remaining water. Allow the unit to sit until it is cooled completely before storing it.
