- As a Peace Corps Volunteer, Jennifer once wrote a guide (in Slovak!) for her neighbors on how to care for a creek running through their urban neighborhood.
- Jennifer served as chair of her county's local planning commission, writing recommendations for elected officials on sustainable development issues in her community.
- She lives in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, where she maintains a native landscape and cares for chickens and ducks in her backyard coop.
Experience
Throughout her career, Jennifer has written for local and state government on a wide variety of natural resource and sustainability issues. She served as a contributing writer to The Olympian's editorial board, covering shared community interests such as homelessness and local natural wonders. After moving from Washington to Colorado in 2023, Jennifer decided to focus more on creative endeavors. Since joining Static Media in 2025, she has been able to explore topics that interest her while bringing new information to readers on everything from landscaping, gardening, and backyard design to hiking and wildlife.
Education
Jennifer has two master's degrees from the University of Michigan, in urban planning and in natural resource policy. She has a bachelor's degree in environmental studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
