  • As a newspaper reporter, Kathy won an Associated Press investigative journalism award for a co-authored series on chemical spills.
  • She learned a lot about plants while working for an organic lawn care company and a plant nursery, and also while planning a non-profit community garden.
  • When traveling the world, she was immensely inspired by the parks and green spaces of even the most heavily populated countries she visited.

Experience

Kathy is a versatile wordsmith who got her start as a writer and editor at a mid-sized newspaper. As a writer, she enjoys exploring the spaces where beauty, nature, peace, and creativity intersect. When she's not writing, she can be found paddle boarding, hiking, or searching for migrating birds. She has written for Atlas Obscura, Eater, The Associated Press, and countless other publications.
