How to Remove Glitter Glue From Carpet

Perhaps the kids went a little overboard with their latest art project. The glitter glue that adorned grandma's birthday card was well worth the effort, however there is now glitter glue in the carpet. It goes with the territory. When it comes to having kids there is always the chance they'll make a mess. But there is almost nothing that can't be cleaned or replaced. Fortunately, in this case, your carpet can be cleaned.

Step 1

Spray a liberal amount of carpet cleaner on top of the glitter glue and allow it to soak into the carpet.

Step 2

Fill up a kettle with water and put it on the stove to boil. Grab your scrub brush (one with a handle). Grab a clean old towel as well.

Step 3

Pour the boiling water very slowly directly onto the glitter glue. Use a three-second pour count.

Step 4

Begin scrubbing immediately. Work in a back and forth motion to loosen the glue. It should start to soften and flake up. Use the towel to grab the glue. Pour a little bit more hot water and keep scrubbing until all the glue is loosened and flaky. Keep grabbing the glue up with the towel until it is mostly gone.

Step 5

Spray a little more carpet cleaner and rub it into the carpet with the towel. Get your carpet as dry as possible with the towel. Place the space heater on your carpet to complete the drying process.
