Water spots develop on car upholstery for a number of reasons, either from spilling water, or from leaving down a window when it rains. The stain is a dark, discolored area that is very noticeable. Luckily, removing the stain is fairly simple and can be completed with ease.
Blot fresh stains with paper towels to absorb as much water as possible before it has the opportunity to dry. Water absorption leads to mold and mildew growth, making it important to absorb as much water as possible when water is introduced.
Sprinkle a thick layer of baking soda over fresh stains. The baking soda is a natural absorbing agent that will pull the moisture out of the upholstery. Let it sit for 20 minutes.
Vacuum the area to collect the baking soda.
Spray an upholstery cleaner onto the stain, and scrub the cleaner into the upholstery with a cleaning cloth. Repeat until the entire stain has been removed.
Wipe the area with a damp cloth to remove any remaining cleaning solution.
