How to Get Wrinkles Out of a Satin Tablecloth Without an Iron

Satin tablecloths are often used only for special occasions, whether it be an anniversary dinner or a graduation party. Although most irons come equipped with a "Satin" setting, excessive ironing can degrade the material over time. To ensure that your tablecloth retains its subtle sheen and natural smoothness year after year, you should remove wrinkles and creases using the gentlest method possible.

Lift wrinkles from satin using the power of steam.

Step 1

Hang your satin tablecloth from a tall towel rack or door hook in your bathroom. Ensure that the lower portion of the tablecloth does not bunch on the ground.

Step 2

Close your bathroom door and windows. Run a hot bath and allow the tub to fill completely. The water should be hot enough to emit visible, billowing steam.

Step 3

Allow the tablecloth to hang in your steam-filled bathroom for 15 to 20 minutes. The humidity will release wrinkles and creases from the satin naturally.

Step 4

Drape the tablecloth over your table immediately after this treatment. If you will be storing your tablecloth, hang it from a broad clothes hanger or roll it up gently.
