How to Make Homemade Scratch Remover for Plastic

Many plastic items in your home may become scratched from improper treatment or simple accidents. If you visit your local supermarket, you will probably find rows upon rows of different cleaners claiming to remove these scratches. However, it is difficult to tell without trying them all if they really work effectively. In addition, many of these cleansers contain caustic and unpronounceable ingredients that most people do not want to bring into their homes. You can make your own cleansing cream for removing plastic scratches using just a few simple ingredients.

They may look dirty, but they can make your plastic clean.

Step 1

Light one cigarette. Lay the lit cigarette into an ashtray. Allow it to burn down completely into ashes. Let the ashes cool.

Step 2

Combine the cigarette ashes with two teaspoons of mild soap in powder form or grated off of a bar. Stir in just enough water to create a paste.

Step 3

Apply the cream to a soft cloth. Buff the cleanser over the scratches areas of the plastic. Use circular motions.

Step 4

Rinse and dry the plastic gently but thoroughly. Repeat the buffing procedure again if necessary to completely remove the scratches.
