  • Scott started out working as a builder's apprentice for over 5 years, constructing and improving nearly a dozen sustainable, off-grid homes in Northern California.
  • Finally a homeowner himself, Scott is putting his experience to good use by managing his solar panel array, tending his garden, making compost piles, and implementing best practices for fire prevention and mitigation.
  • Beyond his own home, Scott manages six of the properties he helped to build and is always gathering lots of practical home maintenance tips to share with readers.

Experience

Scott sold his first article to a Bay Area local affairs magazine about public transit funding in 2014 and has been writing professionally ever since. After traveling the world and writing about travel for various outlets, he settled down and landed a contract with Angi, where he wrote about home improvement and DIY projects for over 5 years. He's also published pieces about home design, improvement, and maintenance for The Family Handyman, Homedit, Trusted Company Reviews, and Today's Homeowner, to name a few. Today, he's carrying on his passion for home with Static Media's readers to help them out with home hacks, gardening advice, DIY building projects and everything in-between.

Education

Scott earned a bachelor's degree in history of the Americas from UC Santa Cruz.
