Everyone needs a place where he can escape the stresses of daily life and where he can feel comfortable. For some people, it may be a bench at a park and others prefer the beach. If outdoor options aren't available for you or if you just want to make a fun place for you to relax or for kids to enjoy, you can build a hideout in your own room. Making a room hideout requires some basic materials but can be an entertaining experience.
Clean out enough space in your closet to accommodate your hideout needs. For best results, position the hideout between the wall and the closet door so it is out of the way and tougher for others to discover.
Cut out a cardboard partition from a refrigerator box or large moving box using scissors. The partition should be as tall as possible for maximum privacy since it will be placed by the closest door and will provide both an entrance and a fourth wall for your hideout.
Place blankets and pillows on the ground of the hideout so you can sit in there comfortably when you want to. A flashlight will also be needed unless the closet has its own light.
Add a portable DVD player and stereo to give yourself entertainment options. If there is a wall plug nearby, you can use it for power. Otherwise, use battery-powered models. A mini-fridge is another option if you have the space and an outlet to plug it into.
Hang pictures, posters and other decorations in the hideout space to make it as relaxing and cozy for you as possible. You can also paint the wall in the hideout space to differentiate it from the rest of the closet.
Wedge the cardboard partition against the wall when you are not entering or exiting the hideout so it stays blocked off from prying eyes.
