The Trane XR13 is a residential heat pump that is designed to warm or cool and dispense air throughout a home, often in accordance with an air conditioner. The appliance meets federal standards for energy efficiency and is sold online or through select dealers. While the heat pump is sold with a limited warranty to assist users who experience problems with the device and need service assistance, this assistance may not be necessary if some troubleshooting efforts can help resolve the issue.
Connect the Trane XR13 to a working power supply if the unit is not working. Replace or reset the fuse or circuit breaker as needed.
Turn the "System Switch" to "Cool" and the "Fan Switch" to "Auto" if cooler air is desired. Set the "System Switch" to "Warm" if warmer air is desired. Place the thermostat to the desired air temperature.
Turn off the XR13 and remove the filter from the front access panel if the device is not heating or cooling as expected. Clean the filter with warm, soapy water if the filter is permanent and rinse thoroughly. Purchase a new filter if it is marked "Disposable." Slide the filter into the heat pump with the arrows in the direction of the air flow. Close the blower door firmly as the heat pump will not operate if the door is ajar.
Keep the area around the heat pump clear of debris or other items that can obstruct air flow if the unit is operating constantly or running poorly.
Contact Trane for assistance as needed.
