Organic herb hardening, DIY home decor on a budget, Organization and storage
  • Natalie is a former Lowe's Home Improvement Senior Content Editor, which included reading and editing about home, garden, and DIY projects.
  • She built her first herb garden, using organic methods for compost, mulch, and DIY-ed fencing and support stakes from local materials.
  • As an avid gardener, she focuses on organic, pesticide-free methods to keep her edible herbs, veggies, and fruit ready to eat right off the plant. (But washes potatoes and carrots first, of course.)

Experience

Natalie has been writing and editing professionally for nearly 20 years, starting with Creative Loafing, a weekly alternative newspaper. Her work covered everything from local historic home interior design profiles to boutique furniture reviews. After earning her master's degree, she served as the senior copy editor for Lowe's Home Improvement. Working with the creative ideas newsletter and reviewing hands-on DIY projects inspired her to tackle her own home and garden passions. When she is not writing, gardening, redecorating, or reorganizing, she can be found chasing a ridiculous golden retriever and DIYing doll houses with her daughter.

Education

Natalie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy and religion from the University of North Carolina Wilmington, and a Master of Arts in creative and professional writing from the University of Roehampton, London.
