When it comes time for some shut-eye, interruptions will not be tolerated. That's why homeowners turn to the best-rated blackout curtains – they're durable window treatments that eliminate light exposure and lessen noise while regulating bedroom temperatures throughout each season. These panels have their perks, but shoppers should be mindful of a few caveats, like hefty price tags and weight, as well as overly dark conditions. For those who'd like to forget the pricey curtains but still reap the benefits of these coverings, consider a budget-friendly, customizable Walmart find.

The retailer's Sixwipe blackout pleated window shades are temporary, cordless curtains that come in two sizes: 60 by 150 cm ($7.98) and 90 by 180 cm ($10). They are constructed of "breathable, environmentally friendly non-woven fabric" that works to block UV rays, but unlike its counterparts, this selection doesn't require permanent installation. Homeowners can mount the shades via adhesive and can trim the product accordingly if needed.

An affordable solution to blackout curtains, Walmart's selection garnered 4.1 stars and receives recognition for its affordable price and durability. One customer review touts the find as, "Easy to install. Definitely blocks out light. Perfect for a quick and easy fix." Other shoppers note they're a great solution for a night-shift worker and also tend to regulate the heat and cold in the room, though they are not specifically blackout curtains. Some customers have had issues with the shades, however, noting that the adhesive doesn't stick well and the material wasn't as thick as expected.

If you're tossed on what to select for your home, there are a few things to note. This is a particularly smart find, not only due to its price — blackout curtain panels can sometimes cost around $100 — but due to its temporary nature. Its adhesive, no-drill approach and easy-to-trim panels can offer reprieve for renters who are looking for protection but cannot necessarily make any permanent adjustments to their space. Some customers say it a perfect travel companion, whether you need some shade in a car or an Airbnb that gets a little too sunny. Plus, if you're still mulling over ways to cover your windows while decorating, this inexpensive find can provide blockage from the sun until you've settled on what exactly you're looking for.
