2. The Iconic Hudson Bay Blanket

First introduced in 1780, the colorfully striped wool blanket can be handed down for generations — or to a very grateful neighbor (which is how we inherited one) — and never goes out of style. It appeared in the Detroit home of designer Patrick Thompson, in the Joshua Tree haven of Chris and Anna Pearson, and there is no shortage of loyal fans of the Hudson Bay blanket on Instagram. It's been such a treasured piece for decades that we even have a guide on how to clean it.
