With a drain pipe that is generally 4 inches in diameter, it would seem that a toilet drain would never become clogged. When it does, however, there is nothing more frustrating than trying to clear the clogged drain. Although there are many different ways to attempt to tackle this problem, from using snakes to pouring in chemicals, there is one relatively simple solution to unclog the toilet without having to call a plumber and spend a lot of money.
Put a 1/2 cup of liquid dish soap in the toilet bowl. Most brands will work,so use what you have on hand. Try to direct it at the drain opening. Let it sit for approximately 15 minutes.
Pour in a pot of boiling hot water after 15 minutes. Do not flush the toilet. Allow the hot water to sit for a couple of minutes more.
Plunge the toilet after 2 minutes with a regular toilet plunger. Give the toilet drain five plunges.
Flush the toilet. The combination of dish soap, hot water and the use of the plunger will have dislodged the clog and the drain will work properly now.
