Your Frigidaire built-in dishwasher comes with many modern features. One such feature is a front LED screen that displays the functions of the dishwasher. It also displays error codes when the unit is on the fritz. There are two specific codes relating to vent problems on your Frigidaire. These codes will tell you what the specific problem is. There is no need to panic if you see one of these codes, as you can fix the problem without the help of a plumber.

Step 1

Look at your dishwasher LED screen. If "uo" is displayed, that means the vent is open.

Step 2

Locate the vent. This is the metal cylinder on top of your sink. Remove the metal cap and make sure the plastic internal cap is screwed on. If it isn't, or you no longer have the cap, proceed to the next step.

Step 3

Screw the vent cap into place. If you don't have it, you can pick one up from a hardware supply store. Give the clerk your dishwasher model so you can purchase the correct cap.

Step 4

Replace the internal and outer cap. This will close the vent and you will no longer see the error message. If the error message on your Frigidaire dishwasher is "uf," that means there is a vent failure, and the vent is likely clogged.

Step 5

Remove the outer and inner caps of the vent.

Step 6

Place a siphon over the opening of the vent. A paper towel tube usually fits over the openings of dishwasher vents.

Step 7

Blow into the top of the siphon. This will likely clear out any food and gunk that has built up in the vent. You can also clear the vent with your fingers.

Step 8

Replace the caps and run the dishwasher to see if the vent is clear. If it isn't, repeat the steps to clear the vent.
