You can't go without it, but you also don't want the rolls monopolizing bathroom cabinet space. And stacking it out in the open on a shelf isn't exactly pretty. The idea is to create a long fabric hanger with separate sections where you can slide in rolls of toilet paper.

You can also customize the look with the fabric and embellishments you choose. The main material you need is the fabric, so it can be an inexpensive DIY solution, especially if you have scrap fabric around the house. Thrifting fabric or an old sheet is another cost-effective way to snag the materials for the project.

While the original offers sewing instructions, you could also use fabric glue, fusible bonding web, or fabric tape to make a no-sew version. Gather the supplies for whichever adhesion method you choose. Then, pick the fabric to create the main body of the holder. You can use one type of fabric or two different options: one for the lining and one for the outward-facing side. Each fabric requires at least 55 inches of length and about 7 inches of width. However, if you buy larger toilet paper rolls, secure at least 65 inches of each fabric.

While you might want to think twice before storing extra toilet paper in your bathroom, it's a good idea to have some handy. This fabric toilet paper holder is ideal for that. To make the three-roll version, cut the liner and outer fabric pieces to 7 inches by 55 inches to create one long loop (or 65 inches to accommodate larger rolls). Or, cut four pieces, two of each fabric, to 7 inches by 27½ inches (or 32½ for larger rolls) to create a front and back piece. You'll need to adjust the measurements for a longer holder with room for more rolls.

Attach embellishments to the main material, like the lace and red ribbon down the middle in the original — glue or sew them in place. Other ideas include beading, buttons, or designs cut from fabric. If you cut four pieces, sew or glue the two main pieces end-to-end, and do the same with the liner pieces. Place the liner and main pieces right sides in, and sew or glue them together on all sides, leaving a small opening to flip the fabric right-side-out. 

Fold the strip in half with the outward facing side on the inside. Sew the short ends together to complete the main loop — add a loop of ribbon or cord in the seam for a built-in hanger. Then, flip it the right way, and mark equal sections of 8 inches (or 10 inches for the longer holder). Sew or glue across the lines to form individual sections.
