In case you missed the memo, Grandma's old Pyrex bowls are a hot commodity right now. (She always knows best.) Collectors can't seem to resist lining their kitchen shelves with the cookware's playful colors and whimsical patterns. One creative TikTok user, dr.christine.ttsfinds, decided to repurpose a thrifted vintage Pyrex casserole dish into a candle instead of confining her piece to the china cabinet.

She simply fills the dish with plant-based wax granules from Vogue Candles. The decorative kitchen accessory is instantly turned into an aesthetically pleasing light source, and perhaps even a more wholesome one than a typical candle. Because this repurposing project does away with a large piece of wax and opts for petroleum-free wax granules instead, your DIY Pyrex candle won't produce smoke or residue when lit. Plus, everything is temporary: Should you want to send your rare Pyrex dish back to the display shelf or designate it for cooking, this project allows you to reuse the piece.

How to transform your vintage Pyrex dish into a candle

The TikToker's short candle-making tutorial is a straightforward process: Find your kitchenware, make sure it's clean, and fill the dish or bowl up about halfway with Vogue Candles White Pearled Candle Sand Wax. Then you insert the wick (which comes with the granules), light it, and reap the benefits. Once you burn it, the wicks will crystallize so you can lift them — and any melted sand — out easily without messy soot. The unused wax will stay behind in the container — just make sure to put the leftover granules back in the sealed bag or an airtight container to preserve them.

To give this grandma chic decor a little extra flair, follow the creator's lead and place your bowl on a doily — another nana-approved accessory — to protect your tabletop or surface. Feel free to add other decorative statements nearby, like chintz placemats, quirky knickknacks, and a colorful vase with florals (away from the flames, of course). If said vase sports a jadeite hue or is crafted from Depression glass, that's even better. And lastly, if you want to really play into the color of your Pyrex pieces, you can also opt for Vogue Candles sand wax in other colors like beige, black, orange, or red.
