You might've initially intended to use that Dollar Tree pizza pan for homemade pepperoni pie, but the cookware has plenty of potential beyond the kitchen. As is the case with most Dollar Tree DIY projects, you'll find that a little crafting and some unorthodox thinking can transform your original item into something entirely new. In this case, all you have to do is turn the pizza pan into a tabletop, add paper towel holders for the legs, spray-paint everything, and you've got a unique plant stand.

If you have a few small, low-maintenance indoor plants that are in need of a home, use this opportunity (and your Dollar Tree haul) to craft and style one yourself. Although the project is open to interpretation, you'll need to gather the basics to get going: Dollar Tree's 12-inch Cooking Concepts Pizza Pan ($1.25), three Cooking Concepts Wire Paper Towel Holders ($1.25 each), glue like E6000 Plus Multipurpose Adhesive, as well as spray paint in your color of choice.

The DIY is not only super easy to make, but it'll cost just $5 if you already have glue and a can of spray paint lying around. On the lower end of the spectrum, plant stands start around $10, but they can easily work their way up towards $50 or more, depending on the size. This budget-friendly approach will ultimately leave you with a finished product that rivals retailers' offerings — but it's uniquely yours.

How to assemble and customize your DIY plant stand

To get started, use your glue to fasten the three paper towel holders to the bottom of the pan. Since they will act as your legs, angle the iron dowels appropriately so that they're able to stand upright and hold the weight of the pan. You can also use a hot glue gun for extra security. Once everything is dry and secure, simply spray-paint the tin fixture.

The perk of repurposing these Dollar Tree finds is that there's no right way to get the job done. You can paint the top and base in different colors, Mod Podge patterned fabric onto the pan, and even enhance the surface with accessories — think beads, bows, dried florals, and beyond. If you want to go the more modern route, consider a color like gold to make the piece pop. Alternatively, if you want to add a rustic touch, try a coat of chalk paint for a distressed, antique finish.

Regardless of how you choose to style your stand, a few things remain universal: Ensure all pieces are securely fastened before adding plants, and don't place anything too heavy on top of it. It's also best to keep this DIY indoors to prevent any potential damage. However, if you do choose to set it out on your porch or balcony, be sure to seal the plant stand with a clear coat.
