America's Most Popular Appliance Brand Of 2026 Has Been Around For More Than A Century

In terms of choosing the best kitchen appliances, homeowners mull over plenty of factors — quality, durability, reputation, and price, to name a few. Before making such a significant purchase, it always pays to do ample research and assess your needs. Sure, it's a big decision, but shoppers can rest assured when selecting products from a reputable brand with over a century of experience — and they are. According to a recent survey, consumers are continually gravitating towards one name that has been in the business since the start of the 20th century: KitchenAid. 

KitchenAid, which was founded in 1919, ranked as the most popular appliance brand for a second year in a row, according to the survey from YouGov, with Whirlpool and Frigidaire following right behind. The brand received a 90 percent fame rating and a 71 percent popularity rating, which assesses the percentage of shoppers who have a positive perception of the company. YouGov amasses data regularly and provides updates on a quarterly basis,breaking down findings by generation and gender. The results in which KitchenAid takes the top spot is an accumulation of all adults polled. All in all, these findings are meant to compare brands and dive into the demographics of who is purchasing what. (For KitchenAid, the top customers start with baby boomers, followed by millennials and then Gen X.) 

In 1919, KitchenAid's "Model H5" eggbeater was created, and inadvertently, the company's name when the wife of a director said, "I don't care what you call it, it's the best kitchen aid I've ever had." Over the years, the mixer began to develop into the colorful all-encompassing kitchen companion shoppers have come to love today. (It's rare to pass up a KitchenAid mixer when presented with such an opportunity.) As is the case with its peers, KitchenAid delved into other types of products, including the dishwasher in 1949; — famously inspired by Jospehine Cochrane patented dishwashing machine — countertop appliances like food processors and handheld mixers; refrigerators; and, naturally, vibrant colorways for different pieces. 

Although Whirlpool comes in second place in YouGov's poll, it's actually the parent company who make KitchenAid products, having acquired the brand in 1986. Throughout KitchenAid's legacy, particularly nowadays, its beloved mixers are touted as a "real workhorse made to last a long time" by Consumer Reports, but a costly one as higher-end models creep towards $1,000. According to reviews, customers have been relying on these mixers for years, and one consumer noted on a review platform, "My KitchenAid mixer is a staple in the kitchen. It's an investment but it lasts forever and is the best on the market." When it comes to larger appliances, Consumer Reports noted KitchenAid is a refrigerator brand to skip due to layouts and issues with features like the ice maker.
