Sometimes, you just need a breath of fresh air in the backyard. Why let a mess ruin the moment? Deck boxes are a great way to keep clutter at bay and give your al fresco arrangement a sense of structure. However, you don't have to settle for a cumbersome and utilitarian piece when there are outdoor storage and organization options with a bit more flair, multiple purposes, and less square footage that still get the job done.

A contender for those outdoor needs is the Keter Circa Rattan 37 Gallon Resin Deck Box at Walmart ($69), which received a 4.7-star average rating from customer reviews. The grey circular storage option clocks in at just under 28 inches wide and has an imitation wicker finish. Customers tout its storage capabilities but note it can serve a variety of functions in the backyard — and it's easy to move around at just 15 ½ pounds, should you ever want to switch things up. Shoppers have also noted that it's easy to assemble, surprisingly spacious — one reviewer claims to have stowed 20 beach towels folded up inside — and convenient.

Walmart's storage option doubles as both a low table or extra seat

This year's patio trends are all about creating an indoor ambiance outdoors, and the Keter piece feels like a living room storage ottoman's al fresco cousin. Besides housing things like outdoor toys, patio blankets, tools, and gardening supplies, it can also act as a side table, coffee table, or extra seat, with a weight capacity of 308 pounds. Customers have found a spot for it near their fire pits, in between lounge chairs, alongside outdoor furniture sets,  and near grilling stations.

Although the Keter offers a smaller, more manageable, and portable option compared to a deck box — one of the simplest space-saving alternatives to a small shed — there are a few things to keep in mind. Unlike a regular deck box, this one isn't lockable. Reviewers love that it's waterproof, yet one shopper had issues with rain seeping inside, so you might want to check for moisture and make sure the lid is clicked in before stowing sensitive patio items inside for long periods. Another factor to consider is the price: The 37-gallon piece clocks in at nearly $70. In comparison, a Walmart counterpart, the Ehhly 121 Gallon Outdoor Storage Box, is 84 gallons larger at $15 more. However, while this piece is pretty pricey per gallon of storage, it is multifunctional. Cylindrical patio tables can easily run over $100, making the Keter deck box a competitively priced pick considering that it can work as both a table and a storage box.
