How to Clean Jenn-Air Grates

Jenn-Air offers a variety of ranges, grills and cooktops, including downdraft, commercial-style, gas and electric models. Jenn-Air cooktop, grill and range grates are made of porcelain enamel fused to metal to allow for even heating. With everyday use, the grates may accumulate food debris and residue from the cooking process. Clean the grates on a regular basis to maintain the quality of your Jenn-Air appliance and reduce smoke, flare-ups and odors.

Step 1

Fill the sink with hot water, and add 1 to 2 tbsp. dish soap, enough to make the water soapy.

Step 2

Lift the burner grates from the cooled Jenn-Air range, cooktop or grill.

Step 3

Place the burner grates gently into the sink, being careful not to bang the grates together.

Step 4

Scrub the grates with the nonabrasive pad to remove any debris or burned-on residue. If dish soap alone isn't enough to clean the grates, apply 1 or 2 tsp. of a mild abrasive cleanser to the scrub pad for extra cleaning power.

Step 5

Rinse the burner grates thoroughly.

Step 6

Dry the burner grates completely with a towel before placing them back on the stove, cooktop or grill.
