Are you wasting time digging through a jumbled mess of earrings every morning? Decorative dishes are common jewelry storage options, but they lead to an unorganized pile that makes it difficult to quickly find a matching set of accessories. Instead of throwing all your earrings and bracelets into a bowl, you can create a beautiful jewelry storage solution in minutes out of an old frame. TikTok creator Haley's Corner posted a simple yet elegant DIY trick for a clutter-free jewelry holder. Using a bit of lace and an old frame, she made an organizer to hang earrings neatly side by side.

The earring posts will dangle from the holes in the lace, ensuring the pairs don't get separated. Lightweight bracelets and necklaces with metal clasps can attach to the lace as well, delicately hanging inside the frame. Depending on your style and the type of jewelry you want to store, there are a couple of ways to complete this project. For earrings, you'll need rows of lace trim and some scrap fabric. One larger piece of lace can fill the entire frame to hold bracelets and necklaces.

You may need to buy an oval picture frame, but you could repurpose one you already own. Though the oval shape has a charming look, rectangular frames can make jewelry storage decor that's just as cute. A larger frame can accommodate a bigger collection of accessories, or upcycle a couple of small ones. This project can also be a genius way to repurpose vintage doilies for inexpensive lace.

How to craft a beautiful earring display with lace

In the video, Haley's Corner reused the removable backing of the frame to hold the lace. However, there are other ways to attach the lace if you're upcycling a frame that's missing the back. No matter how you complete this project, you won't need the glass panel inside the front of the frame, so set it aside for a future project.

To make the earring holder, spray the frame's backing with an adhesive. Then, smooth a piece of patterned fabric over the surface, folding the material over the edges for a clean, taut look. The fabric should be ironed or steamed first to remove any wrinkles. The DIYer cut three strips of lace trim and glued them in rows across the fabric-covered insert. Consider adding extra pieces of lace to hold more pairs of earrings. While the project in the original video used lace with a different pattern for each row, you could cut strips from the same piece of lace. Finally, the DIYer reassembled the frame and hung earrings from the lace.

If your old frame doesn't have an insert, simply lay your lace across it. Use a hot glue or staples to secure the fabric to the lip around the inner edge of the frame. Pull it tight as you work, to ensure the lace is taut and will support the weight of your earrings. Leave the rest of the frame open, or glue a piece of decorative paper or fabric behind the lace.

If you want to store bracelets or necklaces, too, the DIYer showed another finished storage solution with lace filling the entire frame. This style would also work better for larger, dangly earrings or heavier accessories. Simply glue a piece of lace inside the rim of the frame. Make sure you secure it to the backside of the picture frame, trimming away excess fabric. Alternatively, staple the lace inside the frame. The material needs to be as tight as possible to keep your jewelry steady. Spray the lace with a fabric stiffener once it's in place.

Consider painting the frame before securing the fabric. Add rows of ribbon across the frame, so that you can drape heavy bracelets without ripping the lace. If you can't get your hands on a big enough piece of lace for your frame, burlap or tweed also have natural holes to hang jewelry, and are sturdier for heavier pieces.

Now, clip the clasp of bracelets or necklaces into the loops of the lace, so that they hang vertically. Insert the posts of earrings into the fabric and add the backing to the other side. Depending on the type of frame, you can set your jewelry on a countertop, table, or vanity. Even without a stand on the back, this DIY organizer could be easily propped up. Alternatively, hang the jewelry holder to transform old picture frames into wall art with thrifted brooches.
