Luxury coffee tables with a thick glass top and marble sphere bases are the epitome of elegance these days. However, these designs are typically sold for upwards of $3,000, whether purchased from an independent Etsy seller or from a widespread furniture manufacturer. If you're in love with this design, but not the price tag, don't give up just yet. With a few decorative pieces, including one budget-friendly item from Amazon, you can recreate this fancy table at home for a fraction of the cost.

The TikTok account, Kristen Angelle, shared their affordable project idea that's similar to the trendy DIY IKEA coffee table that looks high-end. Their design incorporates marble and glass elements to create a stylish and elegant table for chic interiors. The table isn't over-the-top but is still flashy enough to serve as the focal point in a living space. It also has an asymmetrical look that adds a touch of eccentricity to a room.

DIYing this coffee table requires few materials. You'll need three large marble spheres, such as the $129 Playa White Faux Marble Indoor/Outdoor Balls, and a round glass tabletop, like the $64.99 Augeno 30-inch Tempered Glass Table Top. You'll also need a pack of $6.99 Linoupowers510 Glass Table Top Bumper Pads Spacers Dots, setting this whole project at approximately $459. This is on the higher end of mid-tier price ranges for coffee tables, but is significantly cheaper than similar designs on the market.

Making this elegant coffee table

Putting this table together is, surprisingly, as easy as it looks. Roll the three marble spheres into a triad shape. Use the spacer dots on top of the marble spheres, and lay the glass tabletop on top to complete the project.

If you use the recommended products, the marble spheres weigh about 22 pounds each and the glass top is just under 18 pounds. Since all the materials are heavy, the finished piece should be relatively sturdy. There aren't many exact alternatives you can use for the spheres, as decorative marble balls with a 17.25-inch diameter are a rare find. However, you can make this project slightly more budget-friendly by taking inspiration from a hack that transforms IKEA products into a stunning table, and use six wooden serving bowls instead. Amazon has the Hotainoys Wooden Bowls or you can choose to stick with IKEA's BLANDA MATT Serving Bowls. The bowls will have the same aesthetic effect if you use another budget-friendly Amazon find: marble contact paper.

Regardless of the products you use, avoid putting heavy decor on the edge of the glass. Since there's no adhesive holding it in place, it relies solely on physics. Too much weight on one side will cause the glass to topple over. Bearing this in mind, this table is best suited for homes without children or pets, or in low-traffic spaces, like dens and sitting rooms. When using decorative accents to upgrade the coffee table, keep the decor centralized. This has more aesthetic appeal in addition to keeping the elegant coffee table well-balanced. It's plenty stylish on its own, but it also benefits from a more lived-in look using books, vases, and other modern decor.
