She Transforms A Tin Can Into The Cutest Fall Decor For Your Desk Or Vanity

You might be aware that you can reuse old tin cans for sweet and stylish countertop storage. But now that summer is in the rearview mirror, why not give one an autumn twist? TikToker ariel.alena shared how easy it is to upcycle a leftover tin can into a piece of fall decor that's useful, too. Her technique? The one and only decoupage. All you have to do is cover the can with a fall-themed napkin of your choice, then embellish it if desired. In the end, it becomes the most adorable storage container, perfect to set on a desk or vanity to hold all sorts of items.

It's a DIY with multiple perks. Along with being a project that's fun and creative, it's also wallet friendly — while giving a tin can another purpose. The main supplies needed are white paint, decoupage glue (like Mod Podge), a paint brush, and a decorative fall napkin (or two). Select a napkin that you really adore, whether it has leaves, pumpkins, sunflowers, or another cute symbol related to autumn. Amazon also has a sea of options, such as these Vintage Fall Floral Paper Napkins. Even if you end up with extra, you can always include them in your next stylish fall party. 

Start by painting the outside of your can white. It's a step that will help your napkin pattern stand out more. While the paint is drying, peel the very top layer of your napkin off, then cut it into wide strips. Next, paint a thin coat of decoupage glue onto the can. Carefully attach the strips until the outside is fully covered, smoothing them as you go. Allow it to dry. Go back and paint an additional coat of glue on top of the napkin pieces. It's a step that'll give the can a sealed finish.
