How to De-lime a Commercial Dishwasher

Commercial dishwashers work well in restaurants and similar facilities that constantly have a large number of dirty dishes requiring cleaning. Limescale buildup is a common problem with any appliance that uses water. The lime content in your water supply settles onto the surface of the dishwasher, leaving you with a slimy and discolored buildup. De-lime the dishwasher safely with a chemical-free cleaning ingredient that breaks through the lime.

De-lime your dishwasher with vinegar.

Step 1

Saturate a nylon scouring pad with white vinegar and scrub as much of the scale as possible.

Step 2

Pour your regular amount of dishwasher detergent into the unit.

Step 3

Pour 1 quart white vinegar into a dishwasher-safe bowl and place on an empty rack of the dishwasher.

Step 4

Turn on the dishwasher and let the wash cycle complete. The vinegar will break up and dissolve any leftover scale.

Step 5

Clean the dishwasher with the vinegar routine one to two times per month, depending on the amount of scale that builds up.
