Decor is expensive, and fall wreaths are no exception. Luckily, homemade decorations can provide cuter ways to decorate doors without traditional wreaths. If you don't want to pay store prices for a fall door hanger, saving empty toilet paper tubes can help you craft an adorable wreath. The cardboard can be upcycled to make a simple yet elegant flower wreath with soft, autumnal colors. By cutting the cardboard into rings, you can form pretty paper flowers with a delicate look. A pair of scissors, a bit of glue, and a little paint will transform the toilet paper rolls, though more accents can be added to personalize your project.

Joining the paper flowers together will form the door hanger, and you can make your DIY wreath as full as you like by including more flowers. While basic acrylic paint will bring the color of fall to the TP tubes, a little glitter can be added for a shinier finish. Adding twine, ribbon, and beads to your paper flowers will bring this decor to life for those that prefer a more complex decoration. Other accessories, like artificial fall leaves, can provide a cute twist as well.

Since this door decoration is made mostly of paper, it may not be suitable for an exterior front door that's exposed to rain and wind. Instead, hang your floral piece on a door inside your home, on the inside of your front door, or even on a wall.

Upcycling toilet paper rolls into beautiful fall door decor

For this DIY, you'll need several toilet paper rolls to make enough florals, as each tube will form about one flower. Once you've collected enough, paint the tubes with a yellow, orange, or red hue to create different colored flowers. Make sure you coat the inside and the outside of the toilet paper rolls, completely covering the paper. Flatten the cardboard tubes and cut each into five or six sections, creating oval-shaped rings. These pieces will form the petals of the flowers. A similar technique can be used to DIY adorable fall sunflowers to make more seasonal decor.

Dab glue onto the end of one ring and stick it to another, repeating and continuing to attach petals until you've made a flower. If necessary, use paperclips to hold the rings together as the adhesive dries. After crafting a bunch of flowers, glue them together. Attach the tip of one petal's flower into the space between petals on another flower, continuing to form a circle. For a fuller wreath, add another ring of flowers around the outside, or fill the center of the door decor. Secure a wire ring on the back for extra support.

Consider gluing beads or a small bow into the middle of each flower, and add any other accents that suit your aesthetic. Glue a loop of twine to the wreath to easily hang it. If you'd prefer a decoration with more texture, you can turn burlap and toilet paper rolls into a rustic wreath that's perfect for fall.
