Whether you need a new read on your coffee table or yearn for some more interior inspiration, 2021 has a few great book releases on deck. As we look forward to the new year, we're bookmarking some upcoming titles that we can't wait to flip through. (Pro tip: they'll also make great gifts for any birthdays or events you've got coming up.)
2021 is basically around the corner so we're sharing some of our picks below — we're sure there are many more to come.
1. We Are Here: Visionaries of Color Transforming the Art World, $35, February 2021
Jasmin Hernandez, founder of Gallery Gurls, knows a lot about art. In her own writing, she's continuously highlighted and interviewed artists of color and she's curated a list of names you should know for her book, We Are Here: Visionaries of Color Transforming the Art World. Great for anyone looking to grow their art collection or follow a few new creatives.
2. Artists in Residence: Seventeen Artists and Their Living Spaces, from Giverny to Casa Azul, $22.95, February 2021
Naturally, the interiors of well-known creatives can offer their own kind of inspiration, too. Artists in Residence: Seventeen Artists and Their Living Spaces, from Giverny to Casa Azul takes a look at the spaces of 17 artists. Rich with illustrations, it's a great way to get decor ideas and learn a little history, too.
Chef Brandon Jew of the Michelin-starred Mister Jiu is sharing his knowledge (with Tienlon Ho) in this upcoming cookbook, which also features photographs of San Francisco's Chinatown. You might have seen him on Ugly Delicious during a fried rice episode or on Mind of a Chef. Now you can try his recipes in your own space.
4. India Mahdavi, $65, March 2021
If you know the incredibly chic (and pink) Sketch of London space (aka one of the most Instagrammed interiors), then you know the incredible work of Paris-based designer India Mahdavi. This is the first monograph of her work, with stunning examples of her projects, everywhere from Tokyo to Paris.
5. Mary Berry Cooks to Perfection, $27, March 2021
Who else misses seeing Mary Berry on The Great British Bake Off? You should know that she's got a new cookbook out soon and it's all about sweet and savory recipes. With more than 100 to choose from, it's a surefire way to avoid a soggy bottom on your next bake.
6. Jungalow: Decorate Wild, $40, April 2021
We've long admired the work of Justina Blakeney and her book The New Bohemians was a New York Times bestseller. Good news: She's going to have another book out in 2021, paired with the always-chic photography of Dabito. The book comes with tips, tricks, and insights into Blakeney's bold and colorful life. It would make a great addition to the personal library of any decor lover.
7. Vegetable Simple: A Cookbook, $35, April 2021
Packed with more than 100 recipes from one of the most well-known names in the cooking world, Vegetable Simple: A Cookbook is for anyone who wants to continue experimenting in the kitchen in 2021. Eating your veggies looks a lot more appealing this way.
