Packing lunch might seem like a boring activity, but it's a moment in our day that we could be asking the question: How much waste am I producing? For Lynn Julian and Chance Claxton, that question lingered as their family grew and they packed lunch after lunch. So they decided to do something about it.

The duo created U-Konserve, a brand focused on eco-friendly alternatives to the items that we use on a daily basis. And while you can probably find them at your local vitamin store or grocery market, they're now at some of our favorite decor retailers, too. U-Konserve's items are both eco-friendly and chic (case in point: copper-dipped reusable straws), so it's no surprise that retailers like Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie now carry them.

Since inception in 2008, U-Konserve continues to expand its offerings. And in 2015, it became part of the 1% For the Planet initiative — which means 1% of annual sales go to environmental nonprofits.

Here are some of our favorite current items from the brand:

U-Konserve Round Nesting To-Go Container (set of three), $25

U-Konserve Ice Pack, $11

U-Konserve Copper-Dipped Reusable Straws (set of four), $14

U-Konserve Insulated Stainless Steel Tumbler, $13.25

U-Konserve Big Mini Food Storage Container, $11

U-Konserve Bamboo Utensil, $5

U-Konserve Food Kozy (set of two), $8.20

U-Konserve Stainless Steel Straw and Brush, $5.89

U-Konserve 20-Ounce Insulated Food Jar, $26
