Cleaning clear plastic can be an easy task, if you know the right elements to use. Clear plastic can sometimes become stained, or develop a white film over time, making it important to find a product that will clean the plastic without damaging it. While there are many retail cleaning products available, these can be expensive, and not always effective. Instead, make your own homemade cleaning solution that will clean effectively.

Video of the Day

Lemon oil works to clean clear plastic surfaces without damaging the shiny finish of the plastic. Lemon oil can be purchased by the bottle from any hardware or grocery store, and requires only a small amount to work effectively. In a spray bottle, mix a solution of two cups water, one-half cup lemon oil. Spray directly onto the plastic surface, then rinse with clear water and wipe clean with a dry cloth. This will clean the plastic, remove stains, and restore the shine.

Toothpaste

Toothpaste also works well to clean clear plastic surfaces. Use a white, non-gel toothpaste, rub directly onto the surface, and clean with a rag working in small circular motions. Wipe clean with a damp cloth, and any film or residue will disappear from the plastic, and restore the shiny plastic finish.
