If you are a writer who is passionate about all things home and garden — consider joining our team at Hunker! Whether you adore tending to plants, love following interior design trends, or have a knack for DIY decor, we have a plethora of short and long-form assignments available for the choosing. The best part? No pitching required. Our team provides a steady flow of assignments on a daily basis to ensure our writers have consistent work.

We also offer writers the flexibility to choose between an hourly or per-word rate, giving them the freedom to decide whether they want to work on a set schedule or on their own time. Rates are $21 – $25 per hour or $0.08 – $0.10 per word, based on qualifications. Our hiring process includes a paid trial article, followed by onboarding and paid training for candidates whose trial article meets the criteria we're looking for.

What you'll do

At Hunker, we tackle a wide range of home and garden topics, from home maintenance and gardening tips to trending DIY decor and cleaning hacks. Assignments may include celebrity interior design tips, valuable thrift store finds, and product roundups from Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe's, and other retailers.

Having expertise in any of these areas is a plus, but it's not required. Our writers are provided a sufficient amount of time to research the topics they are covering in order to produce accurate and engaging content. Plus, they have a team of considerate and collaborative editors by their side who are willing to answer any questions they may have.

Please consider that because this is a fully remote position, you should feel confident working somewhat independently. We ask that writers either commit to a set hourly schedule or a number of submissions each week.
