Lowe's Has An Outdoor Storage Shed That's Over $300 Off Right Now

Garden tools don't like being outside in the winter, so now that fall is here, it's a good time to think about where to keep them. If the garage is full and storage space is scarce, a garden shed is a great solution. Fall also happens to be a great time to buy a pre-fab shed and save yourself the trouble of building one, since Lowe's is having a sale. Right now, you can buy the Lofka Outdoor Resin Storage Shed for $429.99, which is a $370 discount from the original price. The sale ends October 15.

This shed offers around 135 cubic feet of storage for tools, garden supplies, and other items you need to protect from the weather. At the same time, it measures 48 ⅝ inches long by 67 ⅛ inches wide, making it easy to tuck into a corner of the yard or patio. It's made of resin, which keeps rain out, but because plastic doesn't breathe as well as wood, moisture and mold could form inside. This particular model has built-in ventilation for air circulation and a window to provide light. Mold hates light, so both the vents and the window can help prevent it from growing.

While this shed doesn't currently have any reviews on Lowe's website, it seems to have promising features. For instance, anyone who has stored things in an outdoor shed for any length of time knows that it's important to keep mice out. Mice should have a hard time getting into this shed because of the resin construction and sealed floor, which they can't gnaw through.

The Lofka shed does require assembly at home, and while it's not an insignificant job, it's easier than building a shed. The unassembled shed arrives at your home in two boxes containing all the panels, trim, and fasteners that you need for the floor, walls, and roof, along with instructions for putting it together. All the fasteners have identical heads (unlike some products that come with a mixture of hex heads and Phillips heads), so all you need for assembly is a drill or driver with a #2 Phillips bit, a tape measure, and another person to help. 

This shed has a floor that will flex if it's placed on uneven ground, so the manufacturer recommends leveling the ground and building a foundation. You can skip this step if you plan to put the shed on a level deck or patio, but you'll definitely need a foundation out in the yard. In the installation instructions, the manufacturer recommends either a thin concrete slab or a 2-by-4 frame covered with plywood. That said, there are other basic foundation options, too, such as compacted gravel and plastic grid systems.

As the saying goes, you can choose any color, as long as it's gray. If that color doesn't fit in with your landscape design, it's possible to paint the shed after you assemble it. Krylon Fusion and Rust-Oleum 2X Ultra Cover are two brands recommended for use on resin. Both require sanding prep and a weather-resistant primer to ensure proper adhesion, though.
