There is a good chance that you have, at some point, come across an air conditioner made by Midea. After all, it is one of the largest appliance manufacturers in the world. What you may not realize, however, is that there are several appliance brands that are owned by Midea. Take Eureka, for instance. It is a brand that is best known for making vacuum cleaners and other floor-care appliances, and it is owned by Midea. Similarly, Arctic King and Pelonis, two names you might have seen when purchasing air conditioners, heaters, and fans, are also part of the Midea family.

In some cases, Midea established these brands itself, while in other cases, many of these appliance brands Midea owns today were acquired over the years. As for Midea itself, it was founded in 1968 in China. Today, however, it has grown into a global appliance giant with a presence across numerous markets, including the U.S., and its portfolio stretches from everyday household appliances to premium kitchen products and HVAC systems. Eureka was founded by Fred Wardell in Detroit in 1909. After decades as an independent company, Eureka was purchased by Electrolux in 1974, before Midea acquired the brand in 2016. Today, Eureka is best known for cleaning appliances, with a lineup that includes upright, stick, canister, robot, and wet/dry vacuums. The U.S. trademark records show that Midea America Corporation applied for the Arctic King name in January 2006, with its first commercial use following in August of that year. The brand claims to provide reliable products with a focus on practical cooling solutions, and today, Arctic King is best known for making affordable cooling appliances for household consumers and buyers. Its portfolio includes window and portable air conditioners, refrigerators, and freezers, although you may also see its name on humidifiers, dehumidifiers, and electric fans.

Pelonis is another brand that was acquired by Midea. It was established in 1988, and the company built its name around home-comfort products, particularly portable heaters and fans over the years. Midea America filed a U.S. trademark application for the Kool King name in 2008, and its current lineup of products includes air-conditioning and home climate-control products, including window and through-the-wall ACs, heat pumps, and dehumidifiers.
