Just like most of 2020, the holiday season is going to be tough to navigate. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, some are skipping Thanksgiving gatherings altogether while others are trying to take extra precautions to connect with friends and family IRL.
According to Pinterest, searches for "outdoor winter party" are three times greater than they were last October, indicating Pinners are looking to stick to CDC guidelines for moving holiday get-togethers outdoors as they pose less of a risk than indoor gatherings. Even though hanging out in the cold is less than ideal, Pinners are looking to upgrade their outdoor experiences with an increase in searches for "outdoor heating" (2.5x), "covered patio with fireplace" (5x), "sunken fire pit" (12x), "outdoor pavilion with fireplace" (10x), and "outdoor fire pit designs" (9x). To make Thanksgiving al fresco even more cozy, searches for "outdoor rug" have increased by 60%.

But a fire pit isn't the only thing you can use to keep your guests and food warm. You can also add throw blankets to your setup along with insulated serving bowls or a food warming tray. And to stay on the safe side, you may want to have a pop-up tent handy in case unexpected weather comes along.
