If you have mice, store clothing in sealed plastic tubs–mice can chew through cardboard.
If only one item of clothing is soiled, consider buying a spray bottle of the cleaner, rather than the larger laundry sized container.

Clothing placed in any area accessible to mice can be contaminated with mouse urine. For the sake of your clothes and your health, you must clean these thoroughly and properly before you wear them again. Not all cleaning agents handle urine odors or stains well. If you wash the clothes in regular detergent, you may not get good results. To clean mouse urine from clothes, you need detergent containing biological enzymes to break down the urine.
Step 1
Put on a N95 mask and rubber gloves before handling the contaminated clothing. According to Environment, Health and Safety Online, some mice carry hantaviruses, some of which can cause serious disease in people who come into contact with mouse urine or droppings.
Step 2
Place clothes in a sink or tub. Apply an enzyme-based laundry detergent directly to the soiled areas. Pet stores and pet grooming supply stores sell these detergents, intended specifically for pet accidents.
Step 3
If hot water will not harm the fabrics, fill the sink or tub with enough hot water to cover the clothing. Allow clothing to soak for an hour.
Step 4
Drain the water. Remove the wet articles of clothing. Put the clothing in your washing machine. Wash clothes in hot water, using the enzyme-based detergent.
Step 5
Check the clothes for any remaining stain or odor. If you detect none, you may dry the clothing in the dryer. If you see odor or stains remaining, soak the clothes in the sink or tub for another hour with the detergent and re-wash in the machine.
