How To Fix Shoe Heels That Leave Scuff Marks On Floors

Things Needed

  • Paper towels

  • All-purpose cleaner

  • Towel

  • Adhesive-backed heel and sole protectors

Tip

Shoe protectors also extend the life of your shoe soles.

As an alternative to adhesive-backed shoe protectors, you can have them professionally applied at a shoe repair shop.

If your favorite shoes leave scuff marks, you don't have to throw them out or resign yourself to scrubbing your floors every time you wear them. Even though cleaning the scuff marks off the floor is one option, preventing them from occurring is an even better choice. Not only will you save yourself the trouble of scrubbing your own floor every time you wear them, your friends will thank you for saving their floors, too.

Step 1

Wipe dirt and grit off the bottom of your shoes to prepare the surface. Use a dry paper towel to dust off the heels and soles of your shoes.

Step 2

Spray the heels of your shoes with all-purpose cleaner to remove stains or dirt that will prevent an adhesive back from sticking. Clean the bottoms of your shoes with paper towels.

Step 3

Turn your shoes upside-down and set them on a towel. Allow the heels and soles to air-dry for one hour.

Step 4

Peel the backing off the adhesive on the sole protectors. Apply the sole protectors to the heels and soles of your shoes according to manufacturer's instructions. Smooth the sole protectors out before pressing them firmly against the sole and heel. Wait five minutes before wearing your shoes.
