Ziplock bags are useful for short-term storage due to the ease of opening and closing the bags. The seal on these bags is not strong enough for long-term food storage. A vacuum sealer is needed for long term food storage. Ziplock bags can be sealed with a FoodSaver for a stronger seal that can be used for long-term storage. The FoodSaver will remove the air and seal the Ziplock bag, allowing the contents to stay fresh for a much longer period of time.
