How to Self-Clean an Electrolux Washer Basin

Electrolux washers come with a self-cleaning feature for preventive or aggressive cleaning of the wash basin. Other features of the IQ-Touch and Wave-Touch lines may include "Perfect Steam;" "Perfect Balance," which helps with vibration; 15-minute wash times and 14-minute dry times; specialty cycles, and energy-efficiency. The 2011 models also come in a wide range of colors, including turquoise sky, red hot red, island white and Mediterranean blue. The self-cleaning feature differs between the IQ-Touch and Wave-Touch models, but only slightly.

Step 1

Press any button on the washer to wake it up.

Rotate the cycle knob to "Hand Wash."

Step 3

Press the "Start" button, then press the "Cancel" button.

Press any button again to to wake up the washer again.

Step 5

Press the "Eco Friendly" button and "Control Lock" button simultaneously until the LCD display changes, approximately five seconds.

Step 6

Remove the "Main Wash-Liquid Only" cup and any items in the drum.

Step 7

Fill the "Main Wash" detergent chamber with 1 cup of chlorine bleach or washing machine cleaner, not both.

Step 8

Press "Start" to begin the cycle.

Step 9

Follow the cycle with a "Spin Only" cycle to remove residual bleach.

Wave-Touch Series (Model Numbers EWFLS70)

Step 1

Press the "Specialty Cycles Button" on your washing machine.

Step 2

Rotate the cycle-selector knob to "Clean Washer Cycle."

Step 3

Remove the "Main Wash-Liquid Only" cup from the dispenser, if installed, and any items from the wash drum.

Step 4

Fill the "Main Wash" detergent chamber with 1 cup of chlorine bleach or washing machine cleaner, not both.

Step 5

Press the "Start" button to begin the cycle. Follow the cycle with a "Spin Only" cycle and select either "Extra Rinse" or "Max Spin" to remove any residual bleach.
