Alarm keypads are the user-control interface for home security systems

ADT alarm systems, like similar installations, have sensors on every possible access point into a building. But if a sensor for a particular window or door is damaged, or you need access to that window or door temporarily, a "disable" option is available. This procedure must be done each time you arm the system as it re-enables all sensors and zones once the alarm is disarmed and then re-armed later.

Step 4

Press one of the scroll keys to scroll through the available zones. With the desired zone (door or window) chosen, press the "key" button. Some ADT keypad models allow you to enter the corresponding zone number for the zone you want to bypass. The associated zone numbers can be found in your ADT system manual, where they were written by the installing technician.

Step 5

Verify a "B" or "Bypass" appears next to the zone on screen. Press the "#" key to exit the bypass settings.
