Ladder to reach motor unit
Garage door openers are becoming more reasonably priced, making them more widely used in homes. Remote openers can make your life easier by saving you the time and energy of getting out of your car to open the door manually if the opener is working properly. Many things can cause an opener to stop working. Before calling an expensive repairman to diagnose the problem, try checking the batteries in the remote. If the batteries are good, try reprogramming the remote opener. Resetting your garage door opener remote is a simple task you can accomplish easily.
Push the "learn" code button on the rear of the ceiling-mounted garage door motor unit.
Point your remote at the motor unit. Push the open button on the remote opener three times.
Press the button on the remote to test the opener. The light on the opener should blink, and the garage door should open. If not, try the process again.
Call Genie at 1-800-711-8410 if you have tried reprogramming, and the remote is still not working. The Genie representative can aide you with more troubleshooting ideas.
