How to Vent an Electric Clothes Dryer Without Outside Access

If you live in an apartment or duplex, or any other home without outside access for venting your clothes dryer, indoor venting can be fairly simple as long as the venting system is properly installed and you perform regular maintenance. Indoor venting should never be used for gas clothes dryers for health and safety reasons, but it's possible with electric dryers.

Indoor venting can be a practical option for electric clothes dryers without outside access.

Step 1

Attach the dryer venting tube to the back of the electric clothes dryer, using one of the clamps.

Step 2

Secure the other end of the dryer tube to the venting box, using the other clamp.

Step 3

Place your vent box in a secure location where it will not tip or be disturbed, but where you can access it for cleaning.

Step 4

Fill the water reservoir on your vent box according to the manufacturer's instructions before using the dryer.
