You may notice that a Whirlpool washer does not have a lot of controls. Whirlpool washing machines are available in top-loading and front-loading models and the usage instructions are the same. If you have used other washing machines, you will find that the Whirlpool operates in a similar manner.

Step 1

Lift the lid of your Whirlpool washing machine, if you are using a top loading machine, to insert your laundry. Otherwise, open the door to insert the laundry.

Step 2

Add your detergent to the machine. If you are using liquid fabric softener or bleach, you can add that as well. Some of the Whirlpool washing machines have clearly labeled dispenser areas for you to pour the liquids. For those that do not, you can simply add the detergent and other items directly in with the laundry. Remember, undiluted bleach can damage fabric it touches directly.

Step 3

Close the door or lid of the washing machine. Turn your "Load Size" or "Water Level" knob to the setting that matches the size of your load.

Step 4

Use the "Temperature" knob to select the temperature of the water in the washing machine.

Step 5

Push in and turn the cycle knob until it is pointing at your preferred wash cycle, such as "Delicates" or "Permanent Press."

Step 6

Pull out the cycle knob to start the cycle once you have selected your preferred wash cycle. If you need to stop it at any time during the cycle you can just push the knob back in.
