The light bulb inside a Kenmore oven will burn out eventually. Replacing the light bulb is not necessary for the oven to function, but in order to see how things are cooking you will want to replace it as soon as possible. Almost all ovens use a 40-watt replacement light bulb that can be found at any hardware store.
Let the oven cool completely before attempting to change the light bulb.
Turn the electricity for the oven off at the breaker. This is the easiest way to prevent an accidental electrical shock.
Push the wire holder to one side of the bulb cover. The wire holder holds the bulb cover in place.
Unscrew the light bulb by turning the bulb to the left. Be careful not to squeeze the bulb to hard or the bulb may break.
Screw in the new bulb by rotating the new bulb to the right. Do not try and turn the bulb past its stopping point or you risk breaking the replacement bulb at the neck.
Replace the bulb shield and put the wire holder back into place.
