Setting the clock on your microwave is one of those silly things that you are supposed to know how to do, but for some reason, it's always so hard to figure out. Maybe you just got a brand spanking new microwave and, of course, it works totally different from your old one. Or maybe you set your microwave when you first got it, then somehow misplaced the owner's manual. Now, your power just went out and you can't, for the life of you, remember how to reset the clock. And everyone knows the twice-a-year panic of daylight saving time when you suddenly need to remember how to set the clock on every appliance in your home. Thankfully, with a Emerson 1000w microwave, setting the clock is pretty straightforward, so you can spend your time figuring out how the heck to make your oven clock stop blinking. There are several versions of the Emerson 1000w microwave, but setting the clock is the same no matter what model you own.

Entering the Time on an Emerson 1000w Microwave

If you're just setting up your new microwave, the clock display will read "0:00" or "Enter Clock Time" when you first plug it in. If you aren't seeing anything on the display, double check that it's plugged in (don't laugh, it happens). You can only set the clock while the microwave is not cooking, so finish up reheating your leftovers, then press the "Clock" button. On some models, such as the MW1119W, when you press "Clock," the first hour digit will start blinking. On others, such as the MW8118SL, the numbers will disappear and the display will show "Enter Clock Time." When you see either one of these, enter the time. You'll need to enter four digits, so if the time is 3:45, you'd press "0" "3" "4" and "5."

What to Do if You Make a Mistake Setting the Time

If you mess up while you're entering the time, don't worry. Just press the "Stop/Clear" button and start over. You have 15 seconds to enter the time after you press the "Clock" button. Once you've entered the correct time, press the "Clock" button one more time and the display will now show the time. Whenever you need to reset the time, such as after a power outage or time change, simply press "Clock," enter the four digit time, and press "Clock" again.

Finding the Time While Cooking

With Emerson microwaves, you can still find out what time it is without stopping the progress of your popcorn. While the microwave is cooking or defrosting, just press the "Clock" button and the display will show you the time for three seconds.
