How To Clean A GE Potscrubber Dishwasher Filter

The GE Potscrubber is a discontinued line of dishwashers that use a filter screen in the interior bottom of the appliance to block food debris from entering the pump and potentially clogging the kitchen drain. Cleaning the filter screen at least once a month or as necessary, if water stops draining properly, is a part of the regular maintenance for this appliance. The filter removes in seconds for cleaning.

Step 1

Turn the lever in the top of the door to the right to unlock the latch and lower the door.

Step 2

Slide out the lower rack to locate the filter screen inside the GE Potscrubber near the front of the appliance in the bottom. You may need to rotate the spray arm to reach the filter screen.

Step 3

Twist the filter screen one-half turn to the right and lift it out of the appliance carefully to avoid spilling any debris caught in the screen. Remove the separate filter underneath as well.

Step 4

Scrub the parts with a nylon brush in the sink and rinse in cold water until clean.

Step 5

Insert the filter and replace the screen, twisting one-half turn to the right to lock it in place.

Step 6

Push in the bottom rack and raise the door to close the Potscrubber.
