Potassium salts kill moss in your yard but shouldn't harm animals, plants or grass in the surrounding areas. It's also safe to use on wood decking, patios and other surfaces. It won't damage paint or any other products it touches.

Warning

Regular table salt has little to no effect on moss. Bleach is recommended to treat moss because it breaks down into salt crystals in the sun, and even that salt won't damage the moss. Only potassium salts kill moss.
