When you're ordering parts for your Snapper riding mower, obtaining the proper parts depends on accurately identifying the mower. Some of your mower's parts will depend on the year it was made. If you no longer have the paperwork that includes the date of manufacture, you can find the information on an identification plate.

Step 1

Locate the model and serial number plate on your Snapper mower. Find the plate either behind the seat, on the top of the mower deck, or under the hood depending on the model of your mower.

Step 2

Clean the dirt and debris from the plate if necessary with a damp cloth.

Step 3

Find the engine code on the plate. The engine code is a 12-digit number. The first two digits denote the year that your mower was manufactured. For example, if the first two digits of the engine code are "98," your mower was manufactured in 1998, and "04" would indicate a 2004 Snapper mower.
