Select Comfort, the manufacturer of the Sleep Number Adjustable Bed, offers a product replacement service to its customers. Sleep Number beds come with a 25 year limited warranty starting on the date of purchase. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear or damage that has been caused by the consumer such as stains or burn marks. If you need to replace the top of your Sleep Number mattress because of a defect, you'll want to call the company's customer service number, which can be found on Sleep Number's website.

About the Sleep Number Bed

The Sleep Number Bed, which is an air mattress entombed in layers of anti-microbial foam and padding, is constructed like a puzzle. Each bed component, if damaged or worn, can be replaced or purchased through Sleep Number.

Ordering the Mattress Cover

Because mattress covers are customized to bed size and model number, the price for a replacement varies. Select Comfort recommends that you contact customer service for a price quote for a mattress cover. While many replacement parts can be ordered online through the company's website, the mattress cover cannot. You will need to contact the company's customer service center to speak to a representative about ordering a new mattress cover.

Warranty Coverage

For the first two years of Sleep Number's limited warranty, defective parts are covered at no cost to you. Over the next two to 20 years, the consumer is responsible for 20 percent plus four percent of the price for each year from the original purchase date. If the company determines the part is damaged due to tampering or misuse of the product or from laundering practices, the part won't be covered under warranty. In order to place a claim with Sleep Number, you will need your original proof of purchase or receipt and the tags that came on the bed should still be in place.

Mattress Covers and Mold

According to Select Comfort, all bed components are treated with an antimicrobial substance to resist mold and mildew. If, however, the mattress cover is damaged by mold, the company will do what they can to rectify the situation. According to the website, Select Comfort will "stand by their product and will replace any and all parts to make the bed like new." If your Sleep Number mattress cover was manufactured prior to 2002, check with Customer Service about the warranty concerning mold. Antimicrobial mold treatment was reformulated after 2002 and older beds may not be covered.
