How to Remove Silicone Caulking From a Painted Wall. Silicone caulking is hardest to remove of all the different types. A painted wall is the most delicate of caulking surfaces. Minimize wall damage when removing silicone caulking, by using specific tools and techniques. Working slow and carefully can reduce the amount of potential repair to the wall.
Step 1
Shave off as much of the silicone caulking as possible using either a razor knife or sharp wallpaper scrapper. Insert the tool between the top of the feathered edge of the caulk and the wall.

Apply only enough pressure to scrape down and remove the caulk. Pull the shaved or loose pieces of caulking away from the wall.
Step 3
Mix a pasty solvent of part oven or chemical powdered cleaner and water. Apply to the remaining areas of caulking on the wall with a cotton swab.
Step 4
Let stand on the remaining caulking for several hours. Test the solvents effect on weakening the adhesion to wall. Reapply solvent as necessary.
Step 5
Put on a pair of close-fitting, white or non-dyed cotton gloves. Rub the remaining pieces of caulking treated with the solvent with your fingers.
Step 6
Survey the area, make any minor repairs and touch up with paint.
