How to Restore Laminate Countertops

Scratched laminate kitchen countertops occur frequently in homes because of everyday wear and tear. Scooting dishes across the counter, dropping a dish or accidentally cutting off of your cutting board can all cause damage. You can restore laminate countertops to their original luster and shine using the same materials and techniques some people use on their vehicles. In one afternoon, you can bring new life to your kitchen.

Step 1

Dip a clean, lint-free cloth in bleach or vinegar.

Step 2

Wipe the cloth onto your laminate countertops to thoroughly clean and disinfect them before you try to polish them.

Step 3

Polish laminate countertops by adding car wax to the surface of your countertops. Dip a clean cloth in the car wax container and rub the wax onto the countertops.

Step 4

Allow the car wax to sit for about 10 minutes.

Step 5

Buff the car wax off of your laminate countertops using a clean, lint-free cloth.
