How to Fix the F-28 Code on a Whirlpool Duet

A Whirlpool Duet series washing machine is a fully electronic washer. The digital display on the Whirlpool Duet washer, at times, will display an error code to alert you of a problem with the washer. An F28 error code is a common problem that means there is a communication problem with the central control unit. This problem is generally solved by essentially rebooting the control unit. Rebooting the control unit is accomplished in less than 10 minutes, even by the novice.

Step 1

Unplug the electrical cord from the wall outlet.

Open the detergent tray on the top of the washer and locate the Phillips screws that hold it in place.

Step 3

Remove the detergent tray screws using a Phillips screwdriver and pull off the tray.

Step 4

Find the control console unit reset lever and pull it toward you.

Step 5

Replace the detergent tray and secure it with the screws you removed. Plug the electrical cord back int the outlet.
